18U Gold Wins Silver TCS Texas State Championship!

Firecrackers DFW 18U Martinez came into the Triple Crown Sports Texas State Championships ready to face some of the best competition that Texas has to offer. Pool play began on Monday, June 15th as they were able to pull off a win vs CF Intruders Banzer and managed a tie against Team Synergy. Tuesday would be an even tougher test as they took a couple of tough losses to two very good teams in Impact Gold Middlebrook and Texas Glory Gold. Their 1-2-1 Pool Play record sent them to the Silver portion of bracket play beginning on Wednesday morning.

In the first game runs were at a premium against a tough Impact Gold Garcia team. Kaitlyn Turner (2020 Midwestern State Commit) was tough in the circle as she went 7 innings strong with 4 strikeouts and allowing only one run for the 3-1 win.

In the second game of bracket play the bats came alive as they jumped on Athletics/Mercado-Bonola early for a 12-1 win. They were lead in the circle by Averie Gunther (2021 Uncommitted) as she went 5 innings with 5 strikeouts!

In the semi-finals they faced a tough Texas Glory 2020 team who took an early lead and held on to that lead late into the game. It took a walk off base hit from Brooke Nalley (2020 Hardin Simmons Commit) as they moved on to the Championship game with a 6-5 win!

In the Championship game vs Illusions they took an early lead and never looked back! Averie Gunther had another strong performance in the circle for the 8-1 Silver Bracket Championship win! An overall strong performance from the team as a whole facing and overcoming adversity after playing in their second tournament for 5 straight days! Proud of these young ladies!
